Aston Park Angling Centre is more than just a tackle shop. We’re a family-run business built on a lifelong passion for angling and a commitment to providing the very best products, advice and service to fellow anglers.
What started with a young boy picking up a fishing rod and developing a love for the sport has grown into one of South Yorkshire’s leading angling destinations, combining a thriving fishery, well-stocked tackle shop and growing online store.
Over the years, we’ve invested heavily in our facilities, expanded our product range and built an incredible team, but our values have never changed. We believe in honest advice, competitive prices, exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming environment for anglers of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re visiting us for the first time or have been fishing with us for years, you’ll always find people who genuinely understand and share your passion for the sport.
Our History
2001
The Beginning
This photograph shows Alex competing for the Barnsley Blacks in 2001. Fishing had always been a huge part of life, and these early years on the bank helped build the passion, knowledge and experience that would eventually lead to owning and running a fishery.
2006
A New Chapter
In 2006, we took ownership of the fishery. It was the start of an exciting journey, with a vision to create a welcoming venue for anglers of all ages and abilities. There was plenty of hard work ahead, but this was where the foundations were laid for everything that followed.
2007
Opening the First Shop
Our very first tackle shop opened in 2007. It may have been small, but it was packed from floor to ceiling with tackle, bait and essentials for our customers. The shop quickly became a hub for local anglers and marked an important step in growing the business.
2017
The Original Shop & Café
By 2017, the fishery had grown significantly. This photo shows us in front of the original shop and café that served anglers for many years. It became a familiar sight to countless visitors and played a key role in building the friendly community atmosphere we’re known for today.
2018
Breaking Ground for Expansion
With demand continuing to grow, 2018 saw us begin work on a major extension project. Ground was broken and excavation work started to create a larger retail space that would allow us to expand our range of products and improve the overall customer experience.
2019
The New Shop Takes Shape
After months of planning and construction, the new shop building was completed in 2019. This was a major milestone for the business, providing a modern, purpose-built space that reflected how far we had come since the small shop first opened over a decade earlier.

Bringing the Vision to Life
Once the building was complete, attention turned to fitting out the new premises. Racking was installed, counters were built, stock was carefully organised, and the pole alley took shape. It was an exciting period as the empty building transformed into the tackle shop our customers know today.

The Next Chapter
As Aston Park Angling Centre continues to grow, we’re focused on bringing the same expertise, service and product range that our customers enjoy in-store to anglers across the UK. With a growing online presence, continued investment in the fishery and tackle shop, and the next generation already playing a key role in the business, the future is incredibly exciting. While the business continues to evolve, our values remain the same – providing great products, honest advice and exceptional service to anglers everywhere.
