The Korda DF Carp Rig Barbed Wide Gape is a ready-tied rig based on one of Danny Fairbrass’ preferred setups. It gives anglers a simple way to use a proven presentation without tying rigs themselves.

This rig uses a blowback style design, with a rig ring running along the hook shank. As a result, the bait can move freely and react naturally. In turn, this helps improve hooking efficiency when a fish picks up the bait.

A short section of shrink tubing sits on the hook to create an aggressive angle. Because of this, the hook turns quickly and takes hold more effectively. This makes the rig suitable for a wide range of fishing situations.

You can use this setup with bottom baits, wafters or pop-ups. However, when using pop-ups, you should add a small counterbalance weight to achieve the correct presentation.

Korda ties each rig using N-Trap Soft coated braid. Smaller hook sizes use 15lb line, while size 4 uses a stronger 20lb version. Therefore, each rig matches strength to hook size without affecting presentation.

The rig also includes a size 8 swivel connected with a figure-of-eight loop knot. This allows quick attachment to your lead system and helps save time when setting up on the bank.
